Masked Intruder Drags Victim to Bedroom, Steals Gold Jewelry; Accomplice Identified
The Investigative Committee of Armenia's Kotayk region has revealed multiple details surrounding a robbery that occurred in the city of Charentsavan. Two individuals have been arrested in connection with the incident.
According to preliminary data provided by the Investigative Committee, on March 8, 2019, at approximately 1:40 PM, an unidentified masked individual unlawfully entered a residence in Charentsavan with the intent to commit theft. Armed with a knife, the intruder threatened the homeowner and her female companion, who was also present in the apartment at the time.
The perpetrator then bound the homeowner's feet and hands with transparent adhesive tape and demanded gold jewelry and money. Following the demands, the intruder dragged the victim into the bedroom and, after stealing gold and silver jewelry from a wardrobe, fled the scene, causing significant property damage.
A series of extensive investigative measures have been conducted, including interrogations of various individuals, a crime scene inspection, and the appointment of a forensic medical examination. Search warrants have also been executed.
As a result of the large-scale investigative actions and operational measures, the identity of the suspect, a 42-year-old resident of Charentsavan, was established. Information was also obtained regarding the homeowner's 36-year-old companion's possible involvement in the incident.
On March 18, 2019, the 42-year-old man presented himself to the investigating authority. On the same day, he was arrested and provided a confession. Additionally, a 36-year-old woman from Charentsavan was arrested on suspicion of assisting in the armed robbery.
The investigation is ongoing.
