European Commission Fines Google €1.49 Billion

The European Commission has fined Google €1.49 billion for violating competition rules.

According to Russian news agency TASS, one of the main issues was Google's placement of contextual advertisements for its clients on the search pages of websites.

The European Commission has highlighted a number of violations of advertising policies, noting that the corporation can always appeal the Commission's decision, but must first pay the fine.
