Boris Murazian Creates Noise Out of Nothing for Certain Purposes: Police

Politik.am editor Boris Murazian made a post on his Facebook page today stating that "Police Chief Osipyan is threatening me and my family." Prior to this, he had sent a letter to the police chief suggesting that some fakers had threatened him.

Following this, the head of the Public Relations and Media Department, at the request of the police chief, contacted Murazian and suggested that he file a report with the police's Criminal Investigation Department regarding the threats made against him online. Soon thereafter, instead of following this logical course of action, Murazian posted the aforementioned statement on his page, to which the head of the police media department responded, reiterating his earlier offer and speculating that failing to approach law enforcement in such a case might indicate that Murazian's claims are merely aimed at making noise and gaining some advantage.

Suspicions were soon confirmed as Boris Murazian began giving interviews to media outlets to "justify" the fictional threats against him, while also alluding to a phone conversation with the police chief. Moreover, this reference is quite surprising to Murazian, who notes that the police chief called him, implying that such direct communication is unprecedented.

In reality, there is nothing surprising. Valery Osipyan has maintained direct contact with media representatives due to his official duties over the past few years, which the journalists themselves can confirm. Moreover, many journalists have his phone number and have called and spoken with the police chief on numerous occasions. Murazian's surprise may stem from the fact that he and his site have never distinguished themselves through active journalistic endeavors. However, we tend to think that this "surprise" is merely a tactic, as Murazian has had phone conversations with the police chief, pleading that no one should be informed of these discussions. We are compelled to publicize this fact since he himself has violated his request for confidentiality.

Furthermore, regarding the mentioned phone conversation, it should be noted that after the police chief called him, Murazian returned the call, saying it was late, and when the police chief offered to end the conversation, Murazian did not agree, and the conversation continued...

Additionally, we believe that Boris Murazian would not deny his previous desires to meet with the police chief...

As for the mysterious hints made in his writing about the conversation with the police chief, the situation was simply this: the police chief asked why unfounded information about him and the police was being disseminated, to which Murazian replied that his sources said so, but he did not answer the police chief's question about which sources he was referring to... These are all the "mysterious details".

All of this creates an illusion of mystery, stirring up a storm in a teacup, making noise out of nothing, which we are convinced, serves certain purposes. Therefore, we once again call on to engage in honest journalism and reaffirm that the police, faithful to their functions, are ready to pursue the truth and protect anyone.
