Brawl and Gunshots in Kotayk Province Involving Village Mayor

The Investigative Department of the Hrazdan Police is preparing materials concerning a brawl and gunshots that occurred on January 20 in Kotayk Province.

According to Shamshyan.com, police received operational information that on January 20 this year, during a celebration at one of the clubs in Solak village, a dispute broke out over parking issues inside the club and then outside between 28-year-old Seryozha Poghosyan, a resident of the same village, and 35-year-old Hovhannes Mkrtchyan, a resident of Charentsavan.

This conflict continued at a location known as “Kaler” in the same village, involving residents of Solak village: 37-year-old Edgar Khachatryan, H. Mkrtchyan, S. Poghosyan, 29-year-old Tigran Margaryan, 40-year-old Aghasi Hayrapetyan, and 26-year-old Hovhannes Gevorgyan.

According to G. Shamshyan’s reports, the group had met for clarification when a brawl broke out among them, during which H. Mkrtchyan fired several shots into the air with a pistol he had to scare people. Reports indicate that as a result of the brawl, E. Khachatryan sustained an injury to his left wrist and subsequently sought medical assistance at the Charentsavan Medical Center on January 22.

According to the photojournalist, the attending doctor-radiologist, 35-year-old Aramais Poghosyan, and 47-year-old doctor-traumatologist Karen Sargsyan, both residents of Charentsavan, provided medical assistance without proper registration.

G. Shamshyan’s information states that E. Khachatryan is the village mayor of Solak, A. Hayrapetyan works as a manager at “Armenian BEC” LLC in Kotayk, and H. Mkrtchyan is employed at “Vajtni” LLC.
