Brutal Slaughter of Animals Occurs in Yerevan and Regions
In recent days, animal rights activists and public organizations dealing with stray animals have raised alarms on social media regarding the slaughter of animals in Yerevan and the surrounding regions using firearms.
The last two incidents were recorded in the town of Ashtarak in the Aragatsotn region (where a shooter targeted the legs of an animal, which was later saved with the help of animal rights advocates) and in Yerevan, specifically in the Southwestern district (at 122 Andranik Street). As a result of this incident, the animal was killed.
According to Aysor.am, a citizen named Armine Ghazaryan reported that she and several other residents of the area were caring for the dog, regularly feeding it and that it posed no danger to the surroundings as it was in a closed, private area.
To obtain comments on the situation, Aysor.am contacted the Yerevan Municipality, which stated that it has no connection to this or other instances of animal slaughter and cannot intervene.
