Closed and Difficult Roads: Current Situations in the Regions

The Ministry of Emergency Situations reports that as of 5:00 PM on March 8, there are closed and difficult-to-navigate roads in the territory of Armenia.

The Vardenyats Pass is closed for trucks with trailers and is difficult to navigate for other vehicles.

The Sotk-Karvachar road is impassable for trucks.

There are areas with ice on the intercommunity roads in the Ani, Amasia, and Ashotsk regions of Shirak Province.

There is a snowstorm in the section of Saravan-Zanger.

Drivers are advised to travel exclusively with winter tires.

Regarding Larsi

According to information from the Department of Roads of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, the Stepantsminda-Larsi road is closed for trucks and open for passenger vehicles.

Construction Works Underway

On March 8, blasting operations will be conducted on the 54th km of the M-6 highway section of Vanadzor-Bagratashen, which will result in the road being closed from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

Construction works are also taking place on the Vanadzor-Alaverdi road from the 39th km to Bagratashen.

Alternative routes for transportation have been established:

  • For inter-community traffic to Alaverdi, Vanadzor cities and nearby communities, use the following route:
  • Vanadzor-Stepanavan-Agarak-Koghes-Aygehart-Odzun-Alaverdi towards the Georgian border.

From June 30, 2018, until March 8 of this year, construction works have been underway on the 139th km of the Yerevan-Meghri road, causing a single-lane closure of approximately 200 meters.
