Promised to Place in Military Unit, Embezzled 15 Thousand Dollars
The necessary investigative and procedural actions taken by the Armavir regional investigative department of the RA Investigative Committee have revealed the circumstances of a case of particularly large-scale fraud committed by a resident of the city of Ejmiatsin. The individual has been charged.
According to the data obtained during the investigation, a 56-year-old resident of Ejmiatsin, having learned from a friend living in the Shirak region that his two sons and three relatives wanted to find employment, intended to defraud them by embezzling their property of particularly large value.
Specifically, the man misrepresented the truth and promised to help them by offering to place them in one of the Russian military units located in Gyumri.
Based on the information obtained during the pre-trial proceedings, he demanded 3,000 US dollars from each of them under the pretext of making state payments for their employment.
According to factual data collected in the criminal case, the resident of Shirak region and his three relatives gave a total of 15,000 US dollars to the 56-year-old man in April 2014.
According to the agreement, he was supposed to provide receipts confirming the payments made, but after receiving the money, he embezzled the sum of 15,000 US dollars and left the country. During the pre-investigation, the 56-year-old man returned the fraudulently embezzled funds and appeared before the investigative body.
Based on the sufficient combination of evidence obtained, the man born in 1963 has been charged under the first part of Article 178, part 3 of the RA Criminal Code. An alternative preventive measure of bail has been applied to him.
The pre-investigation has been completed, and the criminal case has been sent to court with a motion for indictment.
