Tragic Car Accident in Armavir Province: 1 Dead, 1 Injured

On February 24, a major and tragic car accident occurred in the Armavir Province. Around 21:30, a resident of the village of Artzvanist in Gegharkunik Province, 27-year-old Yeghishe Agabekyan, lost control of his BMW, license plate 75 FQ 075, while driving on the Yerevan-Armavir highway. The vehicle veered off the roadway on the 2nd kilometer towards the village of Aratashen in Armavir, collided with a concrete pillar meant for a ditch, and rolled over several times, ending up overturned in a field.

According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, as a result of the accident, driver Yeghishe Agabekyan died on the spot, while passenger, 27-year-old Beglar Bazoyan, a fellow villager, sustained injuries and was transported to the medical center in Vagharshapat. A criminal case has been initiated based on the characteristics of part 2 of Article 242 of the RA Criminal Code. By order of the investigator, the vehicle was towed to the specially protected area of the Vagharshapat police department.
