‘Shameless’, ‘Unworthy’, ‘Liar’: insults directed at the mayor of Ejmiadzin, plans to sue
Ejmiadzin mayor Diana Gasparyan is preparing to take legal action regarding insults directed at her on social media, demanding a public apology and compensation from a Facebook user.
This was stated by the mayor in a post on her Facebook page, which we present in full below:
“Dear fellow citizens,
Facebook user Karine Martirosyan has repeatedly made insulting remarks directed at me on her personal page and other pages, which I have for a long time tried to ignore, showing tolerance. However, since the insults have crossed all permissible limits, I declare that from now on I will be pursuing the protection of my rights for each case of insult and defamation, using all mechanisms provided by the laws of the Republic of Armenia.”
“Thus, I sent a letter to Karine Martirosyan, suggesting she apologize for the words ‘shameless,’ ‘unworthy,’ and ‘liar’ used in one of her posts, to which she responded with another post containing even more insulting statements (presented below):”
‼️“Therefore, I inform you that I am preparing to file a lawsuit over insults including ‘unworthy creature,’ ‘animal-like Diana,’ ‘shameless,’ ‘unprincipled brute,’ ‘repulsive trash,’ ‘there is no such glib worm in the world as you,’ ‘a revolting character’ and all similar insults, demanding a public apology and compensation‼️
The amount of compensation granted by the court will be directed to our city’s kindergartens until the last dram‼️
From now on, I will categorically seek legal protection for all cases of insult and defamation, redirecting the compensation funds to charity again‼️
The more such cases there are, the more funds will be directed to our kindergartens, so feel free to continue in the same spirit‼️”
