39-Year-Old Woman Charged with Stealing Neighbor's Gold Jewelry
The preliminary investigation into the case of theft of gold jewelry through illegal entry into a residence has been completed at the Regional Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia in the Armavir Province. A 39-year-old woman has been charged.
According to the data obtained in the pre-trial proceedings, the resident of Armavir Province, born in 1979, became acquainted via phone in September 2018 with a resident of the same province who was working abroad in Russia. When she learned that he was facing financial difficulties, she decided to steal from her neighbor to help him.
Evidence in the criminal case revealed that the 39-year-old woman had previously borrowed gold jewelry from her neighbor, who is also a distant relative, several times with the intention of pawning them. While taking the jewelry, she noted where her neighbor kept it.
On November 28, 2018, around 10:00 AM, taking advantage of her neighbor's absence and the open entrance door, the 39-year-old woman entered the home and stole her neighbor's gold jewelry, causing a total property damage of 600,000 AMD.
The preliminary investigation found that the woman had pawned some of the jewelry at a pawn shop and used the money received to pay off a debt to an acquaintance. The remaining jewelry was also pawned at a bank, with part of the received money given to her acquaintance, while the rest was spent for her needs.
Based on sufficient evidence obtained, charges have been brought against the 39-year-old resident of Armavir Province under Article 177, Part 3, Clause 1.1 of the Criminal Code of Armenia.
