The Presumption is Groundless and Manipulative: YSU Responds to Police Statement
Yerevan State University (YSU) has issued a clarification regarding the announcement and video statement released by the police.
The clarification states: “In response to the claims regarding the absence of 18 YSU employees from work, the recording in the work time calculation report, and theft amounting to approximately 18 million AMD, we inform you that the remuneration of an academic staff member is determined by their annual teaching load, which serves as the basis for payment for the work performed. Certain tasks included in the teaching load (such as supervising coursework, theses, master's works, etc.) can, under modern information technology conditions, also be performed without being physically present at the university (remotely). We officially declare that no employee of the university has been paid a salary without full completion of the established teaching load, which allows us to assert unequivocally that the presumption put forward is groundless and manipulative.
Regarding the announcement about the payment of rent by YSU tenants and their failure to register these payments in the established manner, we state that this does not fully correspond to reality. The tenants of YSU have made rent payments to the university in accordance with the required procedures, and these have been documented as stipulated by law. Detailed clarifications and evidence in this regard have been submitted to the police.
As for the alleged criminal characteristics attributed to a YSU official in the video, we assert that the mentioned official categorically denies the accuracy of this information and believes that the section of the police statement in question has violated the constitutional guarantee of the presumption of innocence.
Under such circumstances, we call on the police, the media, and the public to refrain from making unfounded statements or comments regarding the initiated criminal case, to respect human rights, the presumption of innocence, and to await the final decision in the criminal case.
At the same time, we hope that a comprehensive, thorough, and objective investigation will be carried out in this case, and that the unfounded suspicions of society will be alleviated.
