Absurdity: Ashotyan on Pashinyan's Message

Another attempt is being made to put the Artsakh movement and last year's change of power on the same plane. This was written by the Vice President of the Republican Party, Armen Ashotyan, on his Facebook page. His post states in particular:

“The text of the Prime Minister’s message regarding the Karabakh movement, which again attempts to place the Artsakh movement and last year’s change of power on the same level, is an insult to the heroes of the Artsakh liberation struggle and, from a historical evaluation perspective, is absurd.

This is already becoming part of state policy, the bitter consequences of which will not be long in coming.

Congratulations on your holiday, Free Artsakh.”

It is noteworthy that Pashinyan, in his message on the occasion of the anniversary of Artsakh's rebirth, mentioned:

“Dear compatriots,

On this day, February 20, 1988, a historic event occurred in every way. The regional council of Nagorno-Karabakh made a decision to join the Armenian state. The people of Armenia showed their full support for that decision. Soon, our brothers and sisters from the diaspora joined the compatriots of Artsakh and Armenia.

February 20, 1988, was an exceptional example of the Armenian national awakening that inspired millions. We rediscovered our national unity, solidarity, and determination. A nationwide movement formed in Armenia and Artsakh that was unique in its momentum and irresistibility, deeply national and at the same time profoundly democratic.

The realization of the right to self-determination of nations and democratic freedoms became the clear goal towards which our people marched, convinced that freedom and independence are inalienable values.

Thirty years later, in the spring of 2018, we, as a people, as a society, and as a state, once again experienced a new revolutionary awakening, standing up once again for the ideals that are dear to each of us. We proved to ourselves and then to the world that we are dignified and patriotic citizens of our country, committed to our struggle and ideals, loyal to the path of freedom paved by Armenia and Artsakh.
