NSS Soldiers at the Border Required to Conduct Inquiry Work
“NSS border troops have the right and obligation to conduct inquiry work at state border crossing points,” stated S. Galstyan, head of the NSS press center, in response to an inquiry from AuroraNews.
It should be noted that recently we received numerous calls from listeners inquiring why Armenian border guards are asking all travelers crossing the border with Georgia about the vehicle they are using, including details like license plate number, model, color, and others. The listeners mentioned that they did not receive a satisfactory answer to their counter-question regarding why the customs officers needed such information.
AuroraNews addressed this issue to the National Security Service.
The response from the NSS is as follows:
“In response to your inquiry, we inform you that the NSS border troops have the right and obligation to conduct inquiry work at state border crossing points. During inquiry work, it is also verified how the citizen has arrived at the crossing point in terms of transportation, and this information is entered into the system for flow management, guidance, and further analysis purposes.”
