Video: Protest Action by Yandex Drivers with Nearly 100 Cars Moving from Artsakh Street to Khorenatsi Street
Currently, drivers of the Yandex taxi service are conducting a protest in Yerevan. Approximately 100 cars are moving from Artsakh Street to Khorenatsi Street.
The drivers informed AuroraNews that the service has already begun to deduct 15% from passenger service fees. This refers to the commission that used to be 5%, then 9%, and has now nearly doubled.
Moreover, they were not warned about this change beforehand, learning about the increase in commission fees through the app when they noticed that their income calculations were being processed differently. Many drivers raising their voices in protest have even stopped collaborating with Yandex and moved to work for other taxi services.
Recall that yesterday, a representative from Yandex Taxi's central office in Moscow confirmed to AuroraNews that the commission rates have indeed been increased. However, they stated that drivers have been offered certain advantages, which, if utilized, result in a lower percentage than before.
However, the specifics of these advantages were not disclosed, mentioning that local office representatives can explain them to the drivers.
AuroraNews also contacted Avedis Kasbarian, the head of the Yandex Taxi territorial office, who reiterated the words of the Moscow office representative in our conversation.
Mr. Kasbarian noted that explanatory work needed to be conducted with the drivers, but due to their large number, it has not been possible to do so yet.
Incidentally, Avedis Kasbarian expressed willingness to meet with the protest action organizers to discuss the situation and future cooperation options.
Currently, the drivers are continuing their protest in front of the main building of the Yandex Taxi service on Khorenatsi Street.
