Closed Roads, Black Ice: Situation on the Highways
The Ministry of Emergency Situations reports that as of February 19 at 20:00, there are closed and difficult-to-traverse roads in the territory of Armenia.
The Vardenyats Pass is closed for cargo trucks with trailers, and passable with difficulty for passenger vehicles.
Closed roads include the inter-community highways in the Shirak region: Amasia-Zarishat, Amasia-Berdashen, and in the Aragatsotn region: the inter-community highways of Tsaghkashen-Aragats-Vardenut, Nigavan, Lusakagh, Vardenis, Chknagh, Yeghipatrush, Mirak, Ttujur, Dzoraglukh, as well as Sipan, Avshen, Charjakis, Midanatun, Shenkani, and the inter-community highways of the Aragats region.
Difficult-to-traverse roads include the Sotk-Karvachar and inter-community highways of Hnaberd in the Aragatsotn region and the Ashotsk region in Shirak.
There are patches of black ice on the Gyumri-Ashotsk and Geghadzor village roads in the Aragatsotn region.
Drivers are advised to travel exclusively on winter tires.
About Lars
According to information received from the Road Department of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, the Stepantsminda-Lars road is open for all types of vehicles.
Information from the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of North Ossetia indicates that there are vehicles accumulated on the Russian side.
Construction Works Ongoing
Construction works are underway on the Vanadzor-Alaverdi road from km 39 to Bagratashen.
Alternative transportation routes have been established as follows:
For intracommunity transportation to the cities of Alaverdi and Vanadzor and nearby settlements:
- Vanadzor-Stepanavan-Agarak-Koghes-Aygehart-Odzun-Alaverdi via roads leading to the Georgian border.

Since June 30, 2018, construction works have been taking place at km 139 of the Yerevan-Meghri road, resulting in a one-way closure of a section approximately 200 m long.
