Difficult and Blocked Roads: Current Situation

The Ministry of Emergency Situations reports that as of February 18 at 08:30, there are closed and difficult-to-pass roads throughout Armenia.

The Vardenyats Pass is closed to trucks with trailers (black ice), and is difficult to pass for passenger vehicles.

The roads in the Vardenis, T’tujur, Chknagh, Dzoraglukh, Nigavan in the Aparan region of Aragatsotn Province, as well as in the villages of Melikgyugh, Shenkani, Avshen, and Mirak in Aragats are difficult to traverse.

There is black ice in places on the Sotk-Karvachar and Shirak Province's Gyumri-Ashotsk roads.

Drivers are advised to travel exclusively on winter tires.

According to information received from the Department of Roads of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, the Stepantsminda-Lars road is open only for passenger vehicles.

Construction Works Underway

Construction works are taking place on the Vanadzor-Alaverdi road from the 39th km to the Bagratashen section.

Alternative routes for transport have been established:

For intra-community traffic towards the towns of Alaverdi, Vanadzor, and nearby settlements, use:

1. Vanadzor-Stepantsminda-Agarak-Kohes-Aygehart-Odzun-Alaverdi roads along the border with Georgia.

Since June 30, 2018, construction has been ongoing at the 139th km of the Yerevan-Meghri road, causing a approximately 200 m segment to be one-way closed.
