Rafik Mashadyan's 23-Year-Old Son is Not the Military Prosecutor of Yerevan Garrison
Prosecutor Harutyun Mashadyan was appointed as the military prosecutor of the Lori garrison of the RA Prosecutor's Office in March 2018. On February 4, 2019, he was transferred to the military prosecutor's office of the Yerevan garrison.
This was stated by Arevik Khachatryan, the head of the public relations department of the RA Prosecutor General's Office, in an interview with Tert.am, while responding to questions about whether there had been a new appointment and where Harutyun Mashadyan was assigned.
It is noteworthy that in recent days, rumors circulated in the media claiming that Rafik Mashadyan, the deputy head of the State Revenue Committee, has appointed his 23-year-old son, Harutyun Mashadyan, as the military prosecutor of the Yerevan garrison.
“Harutyun Mashadyan has completed all the legally established procedures to become a prosecutor, starting from his profession to military service, and since March 2018, he has been accepted into the prosecutor's system as a prosecutor, he is a third-class advisor. The publications stating that Mashadyan has been appointed as the prosecutor of the Yerevan garrison are not true. This position is held by Arthur Antonyan; Mashadyan is not a prosecutor of that office, he is a prosecutor. The current law at the time of appointment did not impose any age restrictions,” Khachatryan added.
