BMW Has Sunk in Yerevan Lake

An extraordinary incident occurred in Yerevan. Yesterday, on February 17, around 16:50, the emergency situations ministry’s rescue service received a call reporting that a car had fallen into Yerevan Lake. This information is provided by Shamshyan.com.

According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, the number 15 rescue squad promptly arrived at the scene, followed by the second combat unit of the same squad. An operational group from the Ministry of Emergency Situations’ national crisis management center, headed by Arthur Gasparyan, also arrived.

According to reports, police and rescuers discovered that Yerevan resident Musheg Movsisyan, under undisclosed circumstances, had driven a BMW with the license plate 35 NF 415 off the busy road along the shore of Yerevan Lake and into the water. The car has completely sunk. Fortunately, there are no casualties or injuries, as citizens helped the driver before the arrival of rescuers and police. Deputy Chief of Yerevan’s Traffic Police Davit Avagyan also arrived at the scene.

A diver from the Ministry of Emergency Situations indicated that visibility underwater is very poor, and fishing nets are installed below, making it difficult to locate the car at this moment. Rescue efforts have been temporarily suspended and will continue today.
