Accident on Yerevan-Gyumri Highway: One Passenger Dead on the Spot

Today, February 9, a major and tragic car accident occurred in the Aragatsotn region. At approximately 01:40, 45-year-old Artyom Hovhannisyan, a resident of the village of Nor Yedisia in Aragatsotn, lost control of his Nissan X-Trail while driving on the 50th kilometer of the Yerevan-Gyumri highway. The vehicle veered off the roadway, crashed into several concrete barriers, and ended up overturned in a field.

According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan at the scene, one person died on the spot, and four individuals with bodily injuries were transported to the Talin Medical Center, from where driver A. Hovhannisyan was subsequently taken to Armenia Medical Center in Yerevan. Eyewitnesses at the site mentioned that the driver serves in the Armenian Ministry of Defense’s N military unit, and the deceased and the wounded, including a child, are relatives.
