You Build It, Let the Kids Break It, Not You; Let the Kids Have Nothing to Break. Pashinyan

Quality control in construction must be taken very seriously. It seems that state construction should be marked with a notice: ‘state building’. This was stated by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during a government meeting on February 6.

According to him, our perceptions of state construction have not changed for many years. “When it’s about state construction, it can be a bit crooked, the color may not be right, the quality may not be up to standard. Well, it is state construction after all. But when it’s private construction, every corner is precisely done. Yes, it’s a school, but still, kids will break it. You build it; let the kids break it, not you, so that the kids have nothing to break,” Pashinyan remarked, adding that the perception of the quality of state construction needs to change.

The Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, Arayik Harutyunyan, also noted that experience shows that if something is well built, children do not break it.

Pashinyan pointed out that construction is one of the most “fraud-prone” sectors, where one can apply a bit less plaster, pour a bit less cement, and so on. “The fight against corruption should be evident there. The school beneficiaries should see that something has changed, that the quality of work has been improved,” he emphasized.
