Fog, Ice Patches, Closed and Impassable Roads
The Ministry of Emergency Situations has announced that as of February 4 at 16:00, there are closed and impassable roads throughout the territory of Armenia.
The Vardenyats Pass is closed for trucks with trailers (due to blizzard) and is difficult to navigate for passenger vehicles.
The Sotk-Karvachar road is impassable.
On the Goris-Sisian roads in the Syunik province, particularly in the 'Zanger' and 'Meghri rock' areas, there are patches of black ice.
Fog is present on the Goris-Kapan road.
Drivers are advised to use winter tires only.
Regarding the Lars pass, according to information from the Department of Roads of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, the Stepantsminda-Lars road is open for all types of vehicles.
According to reports from the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation for North Ossetia, there are trucks piled up on the Russian side.
Construction work is ongoing from the 39th km of the Vanadzor-Alaverdi road to the Bagratashen section.
Alternative routes have been established for transportation. The intra-community transportation towards the towns of Alaverdi and Vanadzor, and nearby settlements will be carried out via:
1. Vanadzor-Stepantsminda-Agarak-Koghes-Aygehats-Odzun-Alaverdi road segments at the border with Georgia.
Additionally, since June 30, 2018, construction work has been ongoing at the 139th km of the Yerevan-Meghri road, resulting in a one-way closure of approximately 200 meters.
