Consequences of Snow: The Mayor's Spokesman States When He is Ready to Apologize

The press secretary of Yerevan Mayor Hakob Karapetyan stated in an interview with Tert.am that all streets in Yerevan are accessible and snow removal operations began early this morning, with the mayor inspecting the process.

“At 6:30 AM, it was still raining, and the snow started after that. Simultaneously, all available equipment in the city has been put to work. You cannot find such infrastructure in any capital city or provincial town in the world that allows cleaning the entire city two hours after the snow starts, especially while it’s still snowing. If there is such a city, I am ready to apologize on behalf of our entire communal economy,” he said.

Hakob Karapetyan noted that it was 12:30 PM at the time of the conversation and urged people to look outside, asserting that all streets in the elevated areas of the city are clear and accessible.

When asked about the melting snow, Karapetyan mentioned that the machines had managed to make one or two rounds in five hours and clean the streets. “I do not understand or accept all these complaints; let them bring me an example from any city in the world where, three hours after the snow starts, the entire city is clean,” he stated.

“It is understandable that traffic conditions during snow are not as safe and comfortable as during dry weather, but cleaning operations are being carried out in parallel,” he added. In any case, he encouraged individuals in problematic areas to report on the official pages during the second phase of snow removal. He revealed that 30 snow removal machines have been working today.
