Teghut Mine Might Be Recommissioned
The Minister of Economic Development and Investments of Armenia, Tigran Khachatryan, has indicated that it is possible for the Teghut mining site to be recommissioned. After a government session, in response to a journalist's question about the prospects of reopening the Teghut mine, he responded positively.
“Yes, there is hope; nothing prevents us from proceeding with the recovery works after clarifying the relationships with the bank,” the minister stated, adding that the company currently has organizational issues with the bank that must be resolved in accordance with legal procedures.
According to the minister, in 2017, Teghut produced and exported products worth 120 million dollars, while in 2018, the absence of Teghut's products impacted industrial growth. “This year, the structure of exports has greatly decreased, and the absence of that segment is affecting the economy,” he noted.
