Shirak Public Television and Radio Company Liquidated: 60 Employees Left Unemployed

The government has decided to dissolve the "Shirak Public Television and Radio" closed joint-stock company during its session today.

According to the justification for the decision, the dissolution initiative brought forth by the Armenian government is due to the fact that the company has been operating analog broadcasts until now, and therefore, it has been unable to ensure a wide audience. Furthermore, transitioning to digital broadcasting will require relevant legislative regulations and significant financial investments, which are currently unrealistic.

It’s noteworthy that since October 26, 2016, analog broadcasting has been discontinued in the Republic of Armenia, and the entire transition to digital television broadcasting has been completed.

According to a Facebook post by journalists of the "Shirak Public Television and Radio" LLC, the television and radio station has approximately 60 employees.
