Taxi Drivers Deceive and Cheat Tourists

It is no secret that Armenian taxi drivers often deceive foreign visitors who are unfamiliar with the area upon arriving in our country.

Sometimes, instead of taking the shorter route, they prefer to take a longer one to charge more money; at other times, they simply rely on their imagination.

According to numerous reports received by the Aurora News department, individual taxi drivers at Zvartnots International Airport have been unscrupulously charging tourists 30,000 to 60,000 drams for a ride to the city center, claiming that this amount also includes the fee for entering Armenia.

It turns out that some so-called clever and cunning drivers tell tourists that they are crossing Armenia's border while passing through the airport checkpoint and charge them 30,000 drams as a fee for entering Armenia.

Notably, many tourists visiting Armenia have made quite negative posts on various social media and travel forums, complaining about individual taxi drivers.

While we should do everything to ensure that every visitor wants to come back and becomes a unique promoter of our country, contributing to the growth of our tourism sector, the opposite process is taking place. Therefore, Aurora News calls on the Prosecutor General’s office to investigate these cases and hold the fraudsters accountable to prevent such dishonest and cunning drivers from tarnishing our country's reputation in the future.
