Snowfall: Blizzard and Black Ice on Roads

The Ministry of Emergency Situations informs that as of January 27 at 22:00, there are impassable roads in the territory of Armenia.

The Vardenyats Pass is impassable.

On the Sotk-Karvachar road, and on the roads of the regions of Ashotzk and Amasia in Shirak province, as well as on roads in Syunik province, there are patches of black ice.

In the town of Jermuk in the Vayots Dzor province, it is snowing.

A blizzard is reported in the Aragats region of Aragatsotn province.

Drivers are advised to travel exclusively with winter tires.

Concerning Lars

According to information from the Road Department of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, the Stepantsminda-Lars road is open for all types of vehicles.

Construction Works Underway

Construction work is ongoing on the Vanadzor-Alaverdi road from the 39th km to the Bagratashen section.

Alternative routes for traffic have been established as follows:

For local traffic towards the cities of Alaverdi and Vanadzor and nearby communities:

1. Vanadzor-Stepanavan-Agarak-Koghes-Aygehart-Odzun-Alaverdi via roads leading to the Georgian border.

Note:

From June 30, 2018, until January 27 of this year, construction works are being carried out at the 139th km of the Yerevan-Meghri road, causing a one-sided closure of a segment of approximately 200 meters.
