Protest Action in Front of the Zoo: The Demand is the Director's Resignation

A group of dissatisfied individuals have been voicing their grievances in the form of a protest action in front of the Yerevan Zoo since this morning. According to SHANTNEWS reporters, about 20 demonstrators have gathered near the zoo, primarily consisting of animal lovers and former employees of the zoo.

The protestors' demands remain unchanged, as they hold placards bearing the director's name. They are chanting "Ruben, step down!".

The protesters state that Ruben Khachatryan is unwilling to involve animal enthusiasts in the management process of the zoo, which they believe has led to incidents of animal deaths.

Activists claim that Ruben Khachatryan makes arbitrary decisions, disregarding the advice of individuals knowledgeable about animals.

The participants of the protest demand the suspension of the director's powers, the announcement of a competition, and the formation of a council that includes representatives from the Yerevan municipality and the Ministry of Agriculture to select a new director.

The protest organized by zoo employees concluded with their announcement that since Director Ruben Khachatryan was not present and they were not willing to break fences or cause damage, they were suspending the action for today.

They did not disclose how they plan to continue their fight or their future steps.
