Updated: Black Ice and Road Closures
The Ministry of Emergency Situations has reported that as of January 25, at 21:30, there are impassable and closed roads across the territory of Armenia.
The Vardenyats Pass is closed only for vehicles with trailers, while it is difficult for passenger cars to navigate.
On the Sotk-Karvachar road, as well as on the Shirak Region’s Ashotsk and Amasia regions and various roads in the Syunik Region, there are instances of black ice.
Drivers are advised to travel exclusively on winter tires.
About Larsi
According to information from the Road Department of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, the stepantsminda-Larsi road is open for all types of vehicles.
Construction Work Underway
Construction work is ongoing from kilometer 39 to Bagratashen on the Vanadzor-Alaverdi road.
Alternative routes have been established for transportation:
- Domestic transportation to the cities of Alaverdi, Vanadzor, and nearby communities should utilize the following route:
- Vanadzor-Stepanavan-Agarak-Koghes-Aigehat-Odzun-Alaverdi through border sections towards Georgia.
Note:
Since June 30, 2018, until January 25, 2023, construction work has been taking place at kilometer 139 of the Yerevan-Meghri road, resulting in a one-sided closure for about 200 meters of the section.
