Tsarukyan Has No Connection to March 1 Events, Iveta Tonoyan
Gagik Tsarukyan has repeatedly declared that those individuals connected to the March 1 events must be strictly punished, and those who throw ungrounded mud at people and mislead the public through directed false information must also be held accountable for false denunciation as stipulated by law. This was stated by Iveta Tonoyan, spokesperson for the "Prosperous Armenia" party, on her Facebook page.
In her post, she specifically mentioned:
“Yesterday, on January 22, the documentary film 'The Lost Spring of Armenia' by Tigran Paskevichyan was aired on Public Television. In one of the segments of the film, one of the documents presented by the fact-finding group was shown, which claims that military equipment was allegedly provided by the authorities to Gagik Tsarukyan's security detail on March 1, and that they supposedly participated in the events of that day.
This information is completely unrelated to reality and has been confirmed by Gagik Tsarukyan himself numerous times. If the film was indeed a documentary, then the authors were obligated to at least present the opinion of the second party, rather than spreading absolute misinformation on the Public Television, which operates at the expense of taxpayers' money.
Moreover, recently, Andranik Kocharyan, a member of the same fact-finding group, also noted that it is at least strange that Gagik Tsarukyan's name stands out among the several dozen names listed in the document, being the only one who has spoken about this document and emphasized that he has no connection to these events, while the others simply remain silent. The fact that Gagik Tsarukyan has always been by the side of the people was even written about in the most oppositional 'Haykakan Zhamanak' newspaper on August 1, 2008. Everyone can see that in the attached photo.
In any case, this simply proves that the segment presented in the film is an absolutely one-sided and non-reflective commentary of reality, which is unacceptable for a state-funded television, as it is obligated to provide comprehensive and substantiated information to viewers. Gagik Tsarukyan has consistently stated that those individuals connected to the March 1 events must be strictly punished, and those who throw ungrounded mud at people and mislead the public through directed false information must be held accountable for false denunciation as stipulated by law.”
It should be noted that today, Lusine Haroyan, a member of the "National Progress" party's board, accused Gagik Tsarukyan of engaging in the massacre of people on March 1.
