Roman Babayan Received $100,000 from Robert Kocharyan, But There Are Complaints About Him: Bagramyan 26

Television host Roman Babayan received $100,000 from the second president of Armenia, Robert Kocharyan, for a documentary film about the March 1 case. This was reported by the Bagramyan 26 Telegram channel.

“This is his personal compensation. The film crew received salaries that are significantly above average for such projects, but Babayan was paid $100,000 for the film. Perhaps he was given more money after the film’s release—I don’t know,” said a member of the film crew who spoke to Bagramyan 26.

According to him, the client is dissatisfied with the film because it was expected that Babayan would find more witnesses to the March 1 events who would make accusations against Prime Minister Pashinyan on camera. “After the film was released, most people started to accuse it of being manipulative in nature,” he added.

The source noted that the film production involved not only people from Armenia but also from Russia.

“In particular, Konstantin Zatulin, the first deputy chairman of the committee for Commonwealth affairs, Eurasian integration, and relations with compatriots in the State Duma, and a friend of Kocharyan, was involved in this,” he mentioned.

“We were told that the film would be about the victims of March 1 and their relatives. We were also given the contacts of these people, who were assured that the film would be objective and agreed to be filmed. Later, we were told what kind of film was expected to be produced. After that, we went on to the editing work, but the interviews mostly turned out to be anti-Kocharyan, and only a few were managed to be processed in the way Babayan needed. Many interviewees were simply not included in the film because their stories contradicted Kocharyan's main narrative,” the Bagramyan 26 source stated.
