Decision Made to Detain Manvel Grigoryan
Former Member of the National Assembly and former head of the Yerkrapah Volunteers Union, Manvel Grigoryan, will be detained.
This decision was made by the Court of Appeals of the Republic of Armenia under the presiding judge Arsen Nikoghosyan.
The court had been deliberating for about a week on the prosecutor's motion to release Grigoryan on bail and the defense's appeals regarding the extension of his detention period.
“The decision was legal and justified,” stated Vahagn Muradyan, head of the Department supervising particularly important cases of the Prosecutor General's office, after leaving the courtroom.
It should be noted that Manvel Grigoryan was released on bail of 25 million drams on December 21, 2018.
He is accused under Article 235, Part 2 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia (illegal acquisition and storage of military supplies with prior agreement with other individuals), as well as under Article 179, Part 3, Point 1 of the Criminal Code (theft of particularly large property entrusted to him through embezzlement in agreement with a group of individuals).
In a conversation with journalists, supervising prosecutor Vahagn Muradyan stated that the court upheld their appeal and deemed the bail unacceptable. Muradyan mentioned that Manvel Grigoryan will be detained today.
