Police Detain Individual Who Entered SAS Supermarket Demanding Money

On January 17, at 03:15, the manager of the SAS supermarket called the operational management center of the Yerevan police, reporting that an unidentified person had entered the supermarket on Baghramyan Avenue armed and demanded money.

The dispatched operational group discovered that at 02:40 on the same day, a person wearing a black hat and glasses had demanded money in writing from an employee while threatening that they had a weapon and explosives, and would blow up the supermarket. However, after being refused by the employee, the individual pointed an object resembling a pistol at them and left, demanding not to be followed.

Officers from the Yerevan police and the Arabkir division, on suspicion of robbery, detained 1999-born Ashot M. from his home on January 20 at 08:45.

On the same day, during a search of Ashot M.'s residence authorized by the Yerevan city court, a gas pistol and a makeshift explosive device resembling a plastic container wrapped with electric wires were discovered.

A forensic examination has been appointed.

Ashot M. has been arrested.

The investigation is ongoing.
