Scandal in Yerevan: Director of 'Lapterik' Kindergarten Arrested

As a suspect, Gayane H., the director of 'Lapterik' kindergarten operating in the Erebuni administrative district of Yerevan, was arrested today, January 21.

According to Shamshyan.com, a criminal case has been initiated against her under Article 179, Part 3, Clause 1 of the RA Criminal Code (embezzlement).

Sources indicate that in 2018, operational information was received by the 6th Main Department of the Police for the fight against organized crime that significant abuses were being committed at the aforementioned kindergarten.

Following extensive operational and professional work by the police and later by Erebuni investigators, numerous facts were uncovered, which led to the arrest of director Gayane H. today.

It has been revealed that, with her knowledge and permission, food for over 120 children at the kindergarten has been partially transferred and taken to a restaurant complex belonging to her family located in Dzhrvezh. Erebuni investigators discovered the latest batch of food in her office, which was to be transported to the indicated location.

The investigators also found that the director embezzled a significant amount of 13 million drams allocated for individuals registered at the kindergarten who were not actually employed there.

Sources further report that her husband works as the head of the 4th department of the Court of Accounts, and all family members are public officials. It has also been established that the director embezzled food allocated for the kindergarten students that was entrusted to her.
