Tragic Car Accident: Woman and Mother Die, Doctors Fight for Children's Lives

A tragic car accident occurred in the Armavir region. Early today, January 22, around 00:30, a 48-year-old local resident, Tigran Hovhannisyan, while driving his Toyota Camry, license plate 01 CO 100, swerved into the oncoming lane on the Araks-Sardarapat highway, collided with rocks, and overturned, ending up in a field. This information was reported by Shamshyan.com.

According to photographer Gagik Shamshyan at the scene, the accident resulted in the immediate death of 62-year-old Jemma Khlyghatyan, one of the passengers, while 19-year-old Anahit Hovhannisyan, 18-year-old Jemma Hovhannisyan, 10-year-old Hovhannes Hovhannisyan, and 38-year-old Hranush Nalbandyan were pulled from the vehicle with the help of bystanders and transported to the Armavir Medical Center.

While investigators from the Armavir regional investigative department of the Armenian Investigative Committee, led by senior investigator Babken Harutyunyan, were working at the scene, the hospital reported that one of the injured, H. Nalbandyan, had died in the intensive care unit without regaining consciousness.

By order of the investigator, the vehicle was towed to a specially secured area of the Armavir Police Department.

Those gathered at the scene stated that the driver and passengers were family members; the deceased were the driver's mother and wife, while the injured were his children. The vehicle belonged to a friend of his, and he had taken it to participate in a military festive event.
