Unknown individuals assaulted and robbed 92-year-old veteran Sergo Mirzoyan in Tbilisi
The Embassy of Armenia in Georgia has issued a statement regarding the incident. “Today, the media reported that unknown individuals assaulted and robbed 92-year-old veteran of the Great Patriotic War, Sergo Mirzoyan, in Tbilisi. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia has opened a criminal case under Article 179 of the Criminal Code.”
“Embassy diplomats visited Sergo Mirzoyan today, inquiring about his health and providing financial assistance to the veteran,” the statement continued.
“Upon learning that the incident has garnered significant attention in Armenia and Georgia, and that many are concerned about his well-being, Sergo Mirzoyan requested to convey that he is doing fine, and he expressed his gratitude for the interest shown in him,” the embassy noted.
During the conversation with the diplomats, Sergo Mirzoyan fondly recalled their visit last year on May 9, when the embassy's diplomats congratulated him.
The diplomats, in turn, promised to visit Sergo Mirzoyan regularly.
