Robert Kocharyan to Remain in Prison for Another Two Months

Robert Kocharyan to Remain in Prison for Another Two Months

The Yerevan City Court of General Jurisdiction (Central headquarters) presided over by Judge Arthur Mkrtchyan has decided earlier today to extend Robert Kocharyan's detention for another two months.

This was announced by Kocharyan's lawyer Aram Orbelian during a conversation with reporters.

Thus, the court granted the request of the preliminary investigative body, denying the defense's request for bail.

The court had been deliberating for three days on the motion to extend Kocharyan's detention by two months before it went into the consultation room on January 16.

It is noteworthy that on December 7, the Court of Appeals decided to uphold the decision of the first instance court, which led to Kocharyan's detention. The defense has already appealed this decision to the Court of Cassation. Kocharyan is accused of undermining the constitutional order.
