Look at me, can I be a person who exerts pressure? - Armen Gevorgyan

The Court of Appeal, presided over by Judge Ruzanna Barseghyan, has just postponed the court hearing regarding the detention measure for former Deputy Prime Minister Armen Gevorgyan. This was announced by the prosecuting attorney David Karapetyan during a conversation with journalists.

After the session, Armen Gevorgyan informed reporters that he had made a statement, presenting what he believed were all the circumstances that indicate the unfounded nature of the charges against him. He requested that everything be done to ensure the impartiality, objectivity, and calm atmosphere for the examination of the case.

Responding to the observation that the head of the Special Investigation Service of Armenia, Sasun Khachatryan, stated in an interview with “Oragir” on August 3 that the WikiLeaks publication was substantiated, and that Armen Gevorgyan, together with another official, attempted to exert pressure on former Constitutional Court Judge Valeri Poghosyan, Gevorgyan responded to our question about whether he had indeed pressured the former judge by saying, “Look at me, can I be a person who exerts pressure?”

When asked if he received any orders from Robert Kocharyan regarding the March 1 case, Gevorgyan stated that he was currently in a position where he could not disclose any information about the materials related to the case.

“I understand that there is a problem with patience, a problem with time, a problem with spreading news, but I ask for patience. I cannot highlight the details concerning the case,” Armen Gevorgyan noted.
