ECHR Ruling in Favor of Mairepetyan
The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) has decided to apply interim measures in the case of Samvel Mairepetyan on January 17, under Rule 39, instructing the government of Armenia to urgently ensure appropriate medical assistance for Mairepetyan's health condition, in accordance with the recommendations of medical specialists, including the use of transluminal drainage methods.
This was reported by Mairepetyan's legal team.
“Given the fact that, according to medical specialists, Mairepetyan's treatment cannot be conducted in Armenia, particularly due to the lack of the transluminal drainage method, the ECHR's decision indicates that Samvel Mairepetyan should be allowed to travel to Germany for treatment at the hospital where he was previously treated,” the statement said.
The court also decided to prioritize Mairepetyan's case under Rule 41, instructing the applicant's lawyers to submit the complete complaint, including via fax, within a few days.
The ECHR also warned the Armenian government that failure to comply with the decision would result in a violation of the European Convention on Human Rights by Armenia,” the announcement concluded.
