Why Have Mandarins Become More Expensive?

Why Have Mandarins Become More Expensive?

It is currently difficult to find mandarins in the Armenian domestic market, reports the 'Hayots Ashkharh' newspaper.

According to the publication, some stores have no mandarins at all, while those that do sell them at high prices—ranging from 450 to 500 drams.

The reason for the current situation lies in the regulations of the Eurasian Economic Union. As it is known, starting this January, the value limit for goods imported without paying customs duties and taxes has been cut by three times, while the weight limit has decreased by two times.

Under the new regulation, citizens can import up to 25 kg of personal luggage into Armenia, with a total value not exceeding 500 euros.

This decision has mainly been met with dissatisfaction by those engaged in small businesses. Previously, it was possible to bring in up to 50 kg of luggage, but with the current limit of 25 kg, profitability is compromised.

'Hayots Ashkharh' believes that this change has primarily impacted the mandarin market so far.
