Mikael Minasyan Was One of Our Best Ambassadors: Arman Babajanyan

Arman Babajanyan, a member of the "Bright Armenia" faction, believes that henceforth, Armenian ambassadors appointed in different countries should be invited to the National Assembly. He stated that the foreign relations committee should have inquiries for them, and they are obliged to present their visions and projections to the National Assembly. "This is an individual issue for our faction. We will do everything necessary to ensure that such a procedure is the norm before their appointment," he said.

Earlier, Babajanyan had delivered a sharply critical speech regarding the former Armenian ambassador to Ukraine, Andranik Manukyan, leading to confrontations between members of the Prosperous Armenia and Bright Armenia parties.

Babajanyan told reporters that he had made a political speech and there was no tension. "If Andranik Manukyan's son (Prosperous Armenia deputy David Manukyan) is here, while Toghanyan's or Ruben Sadoyan's sons are not… I cannot condition my speech on someone's son being present or familial relationships (Andranik Manukyan is related to Gagik Tsarukyan)," he remarked.

Regarding the former Armenian ambassador to the Vatican, Mikael Minasyan, Babajanyan stated that he was one of the best ambassadors, evidenced by the well-known mass held in the Vatican on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, the recognition of the genocide by the Vatican, and the historic visit of the Pope. "Presumably, the authorities decided that he should not continue his tenure, likely for valid reasons. We hope that the newly appointed ambassador will continue the traditions and deepen and develop relations with the Vatican," he concluded.
