High-Profile Cases as a Curse: Judge Withdraws from the Case of Serzh Sargsyan's Brother
According to the "Zhoghovurd" daily, several judges have refused to examine the issue of selecting pre-trial detention as a measure of restraint for former officials facing accusations in high-profile cases. Previously, two judges have changed regarding the motion for selecting pre-trial detention for Vahagn Harutyunyan, the head of the investigative team for the March 1 case and now a defendant in that same case. Nelli Baghdasaryan and Vardan Grigoryan have submitted their self-withdrawals, and the case has been assigned to Artush Gabrielyan.
In the case of Levon Sargsyan, the brother of Serzh Sargsyan, Judge Gagik Poghosyan has also withdrawn from the examination. In an interview with "Zhoghovurd", Poghosyan stated that he was not afraid to deliberate on this case. "The legislator has decided to allow for the preservation of this morality through self-withdrawals," he said. For more details, see today’s issue of "Zhoghovurd".
