Europeans Say Funds Allocated for Armenia Are on Hold, No Programs Sent: Marukyan
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia and its officials have not organized their work in a manner that would facilitate the ratification of the Armenia-EU agreement by more European countries during these months. Currently, these countries are preparing for European parliamentary elections and have no other political agenda, which is delaying the ratification process even further. This was stated today by Edmon Marukyan, the leader of the 'Enlightened Armenia' party, in the National Assembly.
The discussion was related to the appointment of the chairman of the National Assembly's permanent committee on European integration; however, speeches mostly shifted towards the field of securing the ratification of the Armenia-EU agreement.
“During various meetings with our European partners, we have been told that the funds allocated for Armenia are on hold, and for that reason, we are not receiving any programs. We are not being provided with the materials on which we should direct the funding. This is partly related to the ratification of the agreement, and partly connected to proactive external policies,” Marukyan noted.
