SSS Head Received Specific Directive: Seyran Ohanyan Rejects Charges
The former Minister of Defense of Armenia, Seyran Ohanyan, rejects the charges against him, labeling them as baseless.
In a post on his Facebook page, he wrote:
WHO VIOLATES THE CONSTITUTION
The Constitution is considered the highest legal act for the state, and any encroachment against it is an infringement on the citizen of the country, on statehood, and is criminally punishable.
The legally unsupported accusations in the context of the March 1 case, directed judicial proceedings, and gross violations of human rights and fundamental freedoms are an infringement on the main law of the Republic of Armenia.
As clear evidence against me is the recorded conversation between the heads of the NSS and the Special Investigative Service regarding
the NSS head's specific directive,
the reciprocal agreements of the two heads,
the illegal restriction of my right as a citizen of the Republic of Armenia to move freely without any grounds and explanation on December 20, 2018 (Article 40 of Chapter 2 of the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia),
thus also violating the right to inviolability of private life, honor, and dignity (Article 31 of Chapter 2 of the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia),
the absurd charges in the case of March 1 on December 26, 2018.
Therefore, I have the right to ask:
— Do those who violate the Constitution have the right to administer justice against generals, presidents, and others who have made significant contributions to the defense and establishment of Armenia and Artsakh?
I regard all of this as a self-serving path leading to a dead end in uncovering the tragic events of March 1, and the logic of the charges brought in the case suggests that new “creative approaches” cannot be ruled out.
I have the impression that there are underground figures who, mastering various manipulative tricks and playing with the emotions of the people, are using the tragedy of March 1 and the memory of its victims for their own treacherous and distant, unknown objectives.
As a combat general standing at the roots of the establishment of our statehood, having undergone the brutalities and trials of war, which for decades led the armed forces of Armenia and Artsakh, holding our borders inviolable with the three Presidents of Artsakh and Armenia, the army's officers, soldiers, freedom fighters, and the entire people, I find this situation leading into uncertainty incomprehensible and alarming, and I strongly warn that such lawlessness is an infringement on the values and achievements of our people in modern history and undermines the foundations of statehood, casting doubt on the efforts directed towards strengthening and developing the country.
As I asserted at the time of the charge issuance, I maintain that it is unfounded, and I refuse to accept it.
I would not wish for our judicial system to become biased and engage in unconstitutional activities.
Justice is not administered by orders or under the influence of the street. Justice is administered through the independent and impartial actions of the best specialists in the judicial system.
