Quarantine in Some Medical Centers of Shirak: The Cause is Acute Respiratory Infections

Due to acute respiratory infectious diseases, quarantine has been declared in certain medical facilities in the Shirak region for safety purposes.

As reported to Armenpress by the acting head of the Health and Social Welfare Department of the Shirak Regional Administration, Hasmik Petrosyan, although the situation in the region is manageable, strict supervision has been implemented in some facilities: access to hospitals is limited, and visits are only allowed during designated hours. There is an increase in acute respiratory infections in the region, as evidenced by some medical facilities, but fortunately, there have been no severe cases or deaths.

During the first 14 days of January, 308 cases of acute respiratory infections were registered in the Shirak region, including 188 among children aged 0-18. Additionally, there were 48 cases of pneumonia, of which 16 were children, and 47 cases of chickenpox. Out of the 308 acute respiratory infection cases reported, 28 were hospitalized.

"Currently, there are no patients with these symptoms in the intensive care unit, and no deaths have been recorded.

Inpatient medical facilities have been placed under quarantine. Strict control measures have been enforced regarding people's ingress and egress, and visiting hours have been reduced," the official noted, adding that monitoring is being conducted in schools by the National Institute for Disease Control and Prevention. "In the early school days, we received complaints about low temperatures in certain schools, but there are no longer any complaints at this time."
