Large Amount of Weapons and Ammunition Voluntarily Surrendered, NSS Reports
As a result of explanatory work carried out by employees of the National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia, in the last month, residents from various regions of the republic have voluntarily surrendered a large quantity of weapons and ammunition.
In particular, during December and January, several citizens from the Gegharkunik and Armavir regions of Armenia voluntarily presented a significant amount of weapons and ammunition to the regional offices of the NSS, including anti-tank grenade launchers, handguns, anti-personnel mines, detonators, grenades, explosives, containers, and approximately 2000 rounds of ammunition of various calibers.
According to the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia, individuals who voluntarily surrender weapons, ammunition, explosives, and devices are exempt from criminal liability if their actions do not involve any other criminal elements.
The National Security Service reaffirms that the fight against illegal weapons and ammunition will continue and calls on citizens to surrender illegally held munitions to law enforcement authorities.
Notice: A suspect or accused person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in accordance with the procedures established by the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Armenia, with a court decision that has legal force.
