I Am Not Obligated to Be Aware of All Businessmen's Issues - Hayk Marutyan
All businesses have certain issues, but I am not obligated to be aware of all businessmen's problems. This was stated by Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan during a conversation with reporters after today’s city council meeting, emphasizing that the dismantling of certain cafes in the area adjacent to the Opera House is final.
“Whenever we make a decision, we discuss it and then make it, and of course, the decision is final. I am not obligated to be aware of all businessmen's issues; all businesses have some problems. I am only obliged to be familiar with the contract that describes the relationships between the municipality and the business,” the mayor noted.
It is reminded that near the Opera House, specifically in the area adjacent to Freedom Square, business operators who have leased lands owned by the city and engaged in café operations have received a notification from the relevant municipal department, suggesting they relinquish part of the land provided under lease rights.
The 30-day period given to the café owners has already elapsed, but the dismantling process has not yet begun due to cadastre and other issues. “These processes must generally proceed in accordance with the law. We will only act in compliance with the law,” Hayk Marutyan stated.
