Powers of Some City Council Members Terminated

Based on the protocols submitted by the Mayor of Yerevan to the Central Electoral Commission, the powers of several city council members have been terminated.

According to Armenpress, during an extraordinary meeting of the Central Electoral Commission, Chairman Tigran Mukuchyan stated this on January 14, where the issue of terminating the mandates of city council members who were elected and whose powers have been prematurely terminated was discussed, along with the question of transferring these mandates to the next candidates on the relevant party or coalition electoral lists.

“We received a number of letters from the Mayor of Yerevan, which were accompanied by protocols prepared by the Mayor. Among them were the protocols for the termination of the powers of Yerevan City Council members from the ‘My Step’ party alliance: Arusyak Julhakyan, Sona Ghazaryan, Alexander Avetisyan, Gayane Abrahamyan, Narek Zeynalyan, Arthur Davtyan, Narine Khachatryan, and Lusine Badalyan,” Mukuchyan stated.

According to him, the powers of Anush Samsonyan, a member of the Yerevan City Council from the ‘Light’ party alliance, have also been terminated.

All mandates of the city council members who were elected and whose powers have been terminated will be transferred to the next candidates on the electoral lists of the relevant party or parties’ alliances.

The mandates of the Yerevan City Council members from the ‘My Step’ alliance whose powers have been terminated are given to the next candidates on the alliance’s electoral list: Rafael Avetisyan, Sasha Katvalyan, Anna Javakhyan, Ashot Sargsyan, Arthur Mayilyan, Vazgen Darbinyan, Arusyak Harutyunyan, and Hayk Mirzoyan.

Anush Samsonyan’s mandate from the ‘Light’ party alliance will be transferred to the next candidate from that alliance, Tehmina Vardanyan.

The powers of Arman Abovyan, a member of the Yerevan City Council from the ‘Prosperous Armenia’ party, have also been terminated.

“The mandate of Arman Abovyan will be transferred to the next candidate on the ‘Prosperous Armenia’ party’s electoral list, Lyudmila Sargsyan,” he added.
