Court Examines Motions Regarding Kocharian's Restraint Measures
The hearing on the motions to re-imprison Robert Kocharian and to release him on bail has just begun under the presidency of judge Arthur Mkrtchyan at the Yerevan City Court of General Jurisdiction (Central Residency).
“Kocharian is not participating in the session. We will submit a motion for the recusal of Judge Arthur Mkrtchyan, but I will discuss the reasons later,” said Kocharian's lawyer Aram Orbelian in a conversation with reporters today.
It is noteworthy that on December 7, the Court of Appeal decided to uphold the decision of the first-instance court, after which Kocharian was imprisoned. The lawyers have already appealed this decision of the Court of Appeal to the Court of Cassation. Kocharian is accused of overthrowing the constitutional order.
