The Aghajanovs Family to Sue Zarouhi Mejlumyan

Members of the family of the brutally murdered Iosif Aghajanov in 1996 will approach the court demanding protection of honor and dignity from Zarouhi Mejlumyan, the spokesperson for the head of the State Oversight Service, whose husband, Mher Yenokyan, is accused of Aghajanov's murder.

“I am simply shocked by all the comments made by Zarouhi Mejlumyan during her press conference today,” stated Elena Aghajanova, Iosif Aghajanov's sister.

“Considering the statements made by the aforementioned individual, I declare: 1. We, the Aghajanovs family, will approach the court asking for protection of honor and dignity from a public official, as she accuses us of acting in an unethical manner and, despite the existence of a legally binding court verdict, speaks of the killer's innocence, thus insulting the memory of the victim, my brother. 2. Zarouhi Mejlumyan’s assertions about Mher Yenokyan’s innocence raise at least some astonishment, as she provides no substantiated facts or evidence. And it remains unclear that if he is innocent, what should the Prime Minister and President of the Republic of Armenia forgive him for—his innocence? Just because they think so as a couple,” she wrote on her Facebook page.

Zarouhi Mejlumyan also addressed the threats she has received on her Facebook page. Her post reads: “There is criminal liability for invading my personal life, sending thousands of threats, inciting hatred, organized psychological terror, and planning an attack. I am going through this legal route,” wrote the wife of Mher Yenokyan.
