Wealthy and Famous Armenians in Global Rankings

The wealthiest and most famous Armenians were included in global rankings during 2018. Rusarminfo reports on several of them.

In January, Forbes business magazine published the ranking of "Russian Real Estate Kings 2018," which featured Russian-based businessmen Samvel Karapetyan, Ruben Vardanyan, and Gagik Adibekyan.

Samvel Karapetyan, owner of the "Tashir" group of companies, was also listed among the close associates of Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to a list published by the U.S. Treasury in its “Kremlin Report.”

Also included in that list was Sergey Galitskin, founder of Russia's largest retail network “Magnit” (real last name: Harutyunyan), a billionaire.

In addition, Forbes included a total of 8 Armenian businessmen in the "200 Richest Businessmen in Russia 2018" list: Samvel Karapetyan, Sergey Galitskin, Ruben Vardanyan, David Yang, and brothers Nikolay and Sergey Sarkisov, Albert Avdolyans, and Andrey Andreev (Andrey Ohanyants).

Samvel Karapetyan, Sergey Galitskin, and Argentine-Armenian businessman Eduardo Eurnekian were included in Forbes's "Billionaires 2018" global ranking.

In 2018, American entrepreneur and Reddit founder Alexis Ohanian introduced his new Initialized.com project to the public using the colors of the Armenian flag. Last year, he also presented his created cognac under the brand name “Chess.”

Among the rich and famous Armenian women, American television star Kim Kardashian continues to maintain her position.
